Follow the steps of St Paul and explore the ruins of ancient Corinth on a private half-day tour from Athens. Stroll around the relics of once an important Greek and Roman city, and marvel at the spectacularly narrow Corinth Canal.
Begin your private day trip early in the morning with a pick up at your Athens city center hotel along with the company of your licensed private guide. Once you settle inside your air-conditioned minivan, we will depart via the National highway to the Peloponnese peninsula.
After an hour’s drive, we will make a brief stop at the strategically important Corinth Canal to admire this spectacularly narrow artificial construction built to link the Saronic and Corinth Gulfs during the 1890s.
Next, we will head further south to the archaeological site of ancient Corinth, an important trading city in Greek and Roman times that stood at the meeting point of southern and northern Greece.
Here, enjoy time to explore the ruined temples, the museum and its artifacts and statues, the bathhouse, the forum, and theater, the Temple of Apollo, and see the bema—a marble platform where it’s assumed that St Paul once stood in front of gathered judges.
As you stroll around the sun-baked relics, stop to admire the astonishing views over the Saronic Gulf in the background.
Afterward, we will return to the van to visit the seaside town of Kechries. Optionally, you can have lunch here, at a fine seaside restaurant.
After a fascinating trip, your private tour ends back at the original departure point in Athens.
